Vulnerable
Some artists don’t explain their work, and I don’t always explain mine either. But this painting deserves its story.
Original contemporary painting exploring themes of inner strength and self-illumination. A feminine figure rises from darkness, guided by a golden moonlight symbolizing intuition and transformation. Bold contrasts and expressive brushwork create a powerful and emotional presence.
This piece started with a reflection on resilience — especially the kind of quiet strength people develop when facing illness. I was thinking about how strength comes with vulnerability, and how showing that vulnerability is all what bravery is. The feminine figure appears translucent, almost transparent. You can see through her, she is showing you everything, she has no walls, that level can be scary to the watcher, how to interact with someone that is showing you all their cards, that has as much to loose as you do, but isn’t scared in the slightest. It’s the type of strength that inspires love, jealousy, hatred, admiration…
Shortly after I began this painting, I fell sick myself. While working on it, I went through medical treatments, hospital visits, and MRIs… Holistic healers helped me the most at that time. This piece stayed with me as a symbol of vulnerability and resilience.
This painting is very close to my heart, and I believe it may resonate with anyone who has gone through something similar — or who has supported someone who has.
